Starting from Banjarmasin, the Capital of South Kalimantan, fly to world famed Tanjung Puting National Park to see orangutans in the forests. After 3 days in the waterways and forest, transfer to Palangkaraya to join the beautiful cruise boat, the Rahai’i Pangun. Journey along the Kahayan and Rungan rivers, and observe orangutans on forested islands mid stream. Visit traditional villages and meet the people. Your final leg is to Loksado and Banjarmasin, where you will visit a longhouse, make a bamboo raft and float along an idyllic river before returning to Banjar for your departure flight.Day 1 BANJARMASIN– PANKALANBUN – KUMAI - TANJUNG PUTING
Pick up your flight to from Banjarmasin to Pankalanbun and, on arrival, transfer to the port of Kumai to pick up your boat transport to the Rimba Lodge.The boat is a traditional klotok wooden river boat about 12m by 2m with a roof which forms the upper deck where you can view the rain forest as it glides by. The boat crew includes the boatman, a cook and expert guide. In the peaceful afternoon we will slowly explore the quite river by the klotok while observe the monkeys along the riverside. Dinner and overnight on the boat. simple mattress, pillow, fine meals, bottled "mineral" water, mosquito net, kitchen, simple toilet available on boat besides the familiar - helpful guides and boatmen.
Day 2 CAMP LEAKEY – BOAT/LODGE
After breakfast board the klotok to travel up river for about 2½ hours boating and then up a side creek to Camp Leakey where the older orangutans are reintroduced into the rain forest and also known as research center for Orangutan. Trekking through tropical rainforest searching for wildlife, wild orangutan, birds and other primate as well as tropical jungle plant. Back to the boat for lunch then witness feeding time at 14.00 pm for old rehabilitation orangutan given additional foods. Overnight at Rimba Lodge.
Day 3 PONDOK TANGGUY – PESALAT – TANJUNG HARAPAN - BOAT/LODGE
After breakfast board the klotok to travel up the river for Pondok Tanguy, the rehabilitation center for the new ex-captive orangutans,see feeding time at 09.00am. Hike through the forest of Pondok Tanggui searching for wildlife including wild orangutan, birds and others.
Afterward continuing the trip to Pesalat reforestation camp. See the process of reforestation project. Afternoon visit Tanjung Harapan Rehabilitation center to witness feeding time for rehabilitated orangutans at 15.00. Free afternoon program, we could visit village near by the park, enjoy canoeing around the river. Overnight at Rimba Lodge. (Additional program, night walking around Pesalat or Pondok Tanggui searching for nocturnal animal or blowing mushroom.)

Day 4 TANJUNG PUTING – SAMPIT - PALANGKARAYA
Check out of Lodge and returns to Kumai by boat. Taxi transfer to the airport for flight to Sampit, and taxi transfer to Palangkaraya. Check in to the comfortable Rungan Sari Resort for a welcome rest and swim.
Day 5 RAHAI’I PANGUN CRUISE BEGINS
Join the beautiful traditional vessel, the Rahai''i Pangun and begin your cruise. Pass the traditional stilt village along the river banks of the city and journey upriver to Danau (Lake) Dapur. Enjoy lunch on board, and keep an eye out for proboscis monkeys, eagles, monkeys and hornbills. Have your first glimpse of orangutans on the Pulau Hampapak release island. In the late afternoon, take alkons, traditional canoes, to explore the beautiful natural black water lakes and canals. Enjoy drinks at sunset on the open viewing deck.
Day 6 KANARAKAN TO TANGKILING
The Rahai’i Pangun journeys further up river to moor opposite Pulau Pallas, BOS (Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation) release island, to observe the orangutans at feeding time in their natural habitat. Enjoy lunch on board as the boat journeys up river, passing another orangutan release island, Pulau Kaja, to Kanarakan village. Walk through the village with a local host to see how people live and work in these isolated communities. Canoe ride in lakes and return to overnight near the village. The boat makes its way down stream, again passing Pulau Kaja, to the port of Tangkiling. Transfer to the BOS Orangutan Foundation’s Education Centre in Nyaru Menteng. Accompanied by experienced technicians, observe baby orangutans behind glass in the socialization cages and watch a film of BOS projects in Central Kalimantan. Transfer by car to Tangkiling Hill to see the village ‘patahu’ at the sacred Batu Banama rock, and then to climb the hill for a view of the vast, flat flood plains and catch the sunset. After this, return to the boat for dinner and quiet mooring on the river.
Day 7 MARANG TO BUKIT RAWI
Today, relax and the enjoy the trip to Bukit Rawi, arriving mid afternoon. Walk through this historic town and learn about the Dayak ancestral bone houses, or Sandungs, and the Tiwah or funeral ceremony. Dinner on board, and later enjoy an evening of traditional entertainment.
Day 8 PALANGKARAYA – LOKSADO
Morning, the boat departs Bukit Rawi for the short cruise to Palangkaraya. Make your final farewell to the Rahai’i Pangun, and transfer to a chartered car. After exploring the handicraft market, travel south along the main highway via Banjar Baru, to Martapura. Here is the traditional diamond mining in the Barito River delta which has given Kalimantan its name: “River of Diamonds”. Continue road journey to Loksado and check into guesthouse.
Day 9 LOKSADO - BANJARMSAIN
After breakfast, we will do easy trekking to a near by Dayak village to see the longhouse, rainforest, and the waterfall nearby the village. Next, we will take an adventure trip of bamboo rafting across beautiful landscape of tropical rainforest along the riverside meanwhile our coach will be waiting on the downstream for driving to Banjarmasin for overnight on hotel. Day 10 BANJARMASIN FLOATING MARKET – DEPARTURE
Very early morning, visit the floating market to see the unique culture of brilliantly dressed Banjarese women trading garden produce, plants, and food from boat to boat. Observe the intense bargaining as boats jostle and drift with the current.
